We are so glad you joined the TechBirmingham Community Duncan! Tell us about your company D2 Creations.
D2 Creations focuses on delivering the best possible outcome for a product or business’s need, whether that requires research, marketing, new design, ergonomics, branding, or any combination in between.
What do you think is the biggest challenge in your industry?
Educating people on the benefits of hiring industrial and product designers in combination with the other aspects of design. Being a relatively new aspect in the design world, the majority of individuals D2 Creations encounters do no realize the full potential of our services.
What is the most exciting trend you see in the Birmingham Tech Scene?
I have seen a recent increase in educational programs and tech classes, that I believe will firmly land Birmingham in the tech world, along with the recent grants UAB and Birmingham have received. I see the pure focus on software, without the implementation of hardware, as a weakness in Birmingham. Yes, the industry is perpetually moving towards online services and programs, but utilizing new software technology in collaboration with new inventions and hardware would bridge the gap between generations and businesses.
How do you see the Birmingham Tech Scene evolving?
I believe tech in Birmingham will lead to a revitalization of the urban areas outlying the city. As the tech scene grows, the overall wealth of Birmingham will increase. Ultimately, I am hoping Birmingham will be realized as a tech capital of the South.
What exciting news or product/service announcements does your company have on the horizon?
Currently, we are working steadfastly on a project for a premiere company on the west coast. Although we are in an NDA, the product will follow a previous product that was released years prior; however, the product features upgraded technology, improved ergonomics, and increased ux.
What kind of impact do you want to make with your involvement in TechBirmingham?
D2 Creations is hoping to assist the tech companies in Birmingham in the endeavor to release their new technology and products. WE have the ability to facilitate their branding, marketing, hardware requirements, and manufacturing needs.
What advice would you give to a person starting out in your industry or in the work force?
Networking is the most advantageous aspect for design. While your work will have to be superior in order to gather business, networking leads to new business, increased traffic, and a more amicable relationship between competition.
