TechBirmingham thrives through its immensely talented and diverse group of member companies. Meet our Member Companies is an ongoing Q&A series highlighting this group of movers, shakers and makers in Bham’s tech industry.
Meet Kevin McLendon, CEO of Telegraph Branding. McLendon has lived in Birmingham for 20 years and started Telegraph four years ago. Read on to get to know more about Telegraph and the great things they are doing in Birmingham and beyond.
Hi Kevin! Let’s get started — Tell us more about Telegraph Branding.
We partner with ambitious brands to do massive things through an inspired combination of creativity, intuition and business acumen. Due to our range of clients, there isn’t an average day for us. Our four core competencies range from web design and development to digital strategy. When it comes down to it, our goal is to meet our client’s needs, period. And we do just that.
What do you think is the biggest misconception about your field?
Telegraph Branding is not an advertising, PR or marketing firm. We’re a branding company. We are a team of visionary designers, developers, and brand strategists determined to take your brand to the next level. We are constantly pushing the envelope, asking better questions and helping you grow your brand narrative. We build brand identities through beautifully crafted logos, packaging, digital experiences, and videos that strike an emotional chord and motivate people to take action.
What exciting company news or product/service announcements do you have to share?
We recently rebranded Legacy Federal Credit Union. We’ve done an extensive amount of research to pinpoint Legacy’s target audience based on the profile missing from their company portfolio. From there, we designed and developed a new website for Legacy, as well as an original campaign that will run for 4-6 months. The campaign includes everything from traditional outdoor signage to commercials and digital ad strategic placement. Not to mentioned, Telegraph played a role in Sloss Fest, which took place July 18-19. We designed and developed the website and app for the festival. Party on.
How do you feel about Bham’s tech scene?
Birmingham’s tech scene has room to grow, but we’re making strides. Our strengths would be the grassroots/startup community and the healthcare hub. Our weaknesses are the inadequate number of highly skilled developers.
Anything else about you or your company you want us to share?
We work with brands from every corner of the business world, from startups to household names. Our clients have been featured at The Oscars, MTV Movie Awards, and Sundance Film Festival. They’ve been spotlighted in the Apple & Windows App Stores and grabbed headlines in Forbes Inc., TechCrunch, FastCompany, and The New York Times. Branding is not optional. Choosing not to brand is still branding. You need to partner with a team of experts to align your identity, design, and messaging with your core values.
Thanks so much for sharing, Kevin!
