TechBirmingham thrives through its immensely talented and diverse group of member companies and their employees. We are also fortunate to be part of a community that values giving back and helping others to succeed. Meet Our Volunteers is an ongoing Q&A series highlighting the individuals who are crucial to the success of our programs.

Meet Tiffani Collins, Solutions Director at PointClear Solutions. Tiffani is a Tuscaloosa native and has lived in Birmingham for 10 years.  Read on to learn more about Tiffani.

Hi Tiffani! Let’s get started — Tell us a little about PointClear Solutions and what you do?

PointClear Solutions strategically designs, builds and manages healthcare software and mobile applications. As a Solutions Director, I work hand in hand with the client as their General Manager to ensure the project is smooth all the way from idea to implementation. I work strategically with each and every client to ensure the market launch is a success and also the right processes and procedures are in place to achieve the highest level of client satisfaction once the client base begins to grow and user adoption increases.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

Spending time with family, painting and volunteering for organizations such as this and the Alabama Chapter of HIMSS.

Why did you decide to volunteer with TechBirmingham?

When I heard about the opportunity to volunteer with 100 Girls of Code I jumped at it. This is something that really hits home with me as I kind of stumbled into the tech field. I think it is great to introduce girls at a young age and encourage them to move in that direction. There are so many opportunities from coding to supporting and everywhere in between to be involved in product development. It is really exciting to show them it is cool to be smart and innovative!

What is your perspective of today’s tech scene in Birmingham? What opportunities do you see for these future generations?

The rapidly evolving technology landscape in Birmingham is very exciting! The opportunities continue to grow in all different types of industries. Everything is going digital and more and more companies are finding Birmingham to be home. I see endless opportunities for future generations, especially by introducing them to the options earlier on.

What is one piece of advice that you would give to kids that want to pursue a career in technology?

Find your niche and your passion and don’t be scared to pursue it! There are so many different types of positions that are needed to develop and support a software application. If you love to create for example, you could code, write the specifications or design the interface of the application. Also, if you love working with people and want to be client facing there are positions such as training, implementation and support. It takes an army and that army consists of MANY different personality types.

Thank you for sharing with us, Tiffani!
